VÍÍK

Nordic Folk

Bio

The pan-scandinavian sextet VÍÍK from Norway, Sweden and Denmark, are acts in field between hypnotic melodies from the Nordic song traditions with the wry, but yet elegant aesthetic of jazz and the catchy grooves of rock.

At the front of VÍÍK is the Norwegian folk singer and composer Elisabeth Vik, who lures the audience into an enchanting universe of mysterious medieval ballads and fairytales. In addition to Elisabeth, VÍÍK consists of Annelene Toft (violin), Villads Hoffmann (cittern), Morten Alkjær Lassen (accordion), Jakob Kragesand (double bass) from Denmark and finally Mårten Hillbom (percussion) from Sweden.

Last year VÍÍK played at Danish Music Award Roots, where the also were nominated to a price as Live Act of the Year and could be experienced at the renowned Tivoli Gardens.
This year VÍÍK releases their first album on vinyl in May and play at the biggest showcase festival in DK, Spot as a part of the Roots & Hybrid Festival. This fall they’ll go on tour in Denmark and Sweden with shows at Alice (cph – DK), Jazz house Dexter (Odense -DK) and Göteborg Folk Festival (SE)
